So many different types of humidifiers are available these days. Here is a quick description of each different type.

A type of stationary unit that is usually kept in the same area of the home and generally sits on the floor is called a Console humidifier.

A steam vaporizer is a warm mist humidifier. The water is heated with a heating element that creates the steam and allows the steam to cool before it is released into the air.

Central humidifiers are built into a home’s heating and/or air conditioning system. It is used to control and increase the humidity in the entire home.

With Hunter’s use of permanent built-in anti-microbial properties, the growth of fungi, molds and bacteria is prevented. Humidifier Maintenance

Many times, people think humidity causes stuffiness and a moist feeling that can be unpleasant. Yes, humidity is something that needs to be controlled, but it is also needed and effective for many reasons. In a dry environment, humidifiers put moisture back into the air to help the air feel a bit more comfortable. When humidity is too low, you experience discomforts such as dry throat and nose, chapped lips and dry-itchy skin. Humidity control can also affect walls and furniture. Low humidity can cause cracked drywall and wallpaper and also allows for static electricity. When moisture is too high, there is a stuffy feeling and it can result in mold and mildew growth. Humidifiers are used to adjust the setting of humidity in your room. The average percent of humidity in a room is normally found within the range of 40 and 60 percent.

With Hunter humidifiers, water with low mineral content is recommended. The reason for this is that it helps prevent any build-up of water deposits on the humidifier filter. In most areas of the country, hard water can cause crusty deposits in humidifiers. The minerals found in hard water can be circulated into the air, which results in finding white dust on surfaces, especially when using ultrasonic units. Distilled water on average has a lower mineral content than regular tap water which will then disperse less amounts of minerals into the air when using Hunter humidifiers. However, the use of distilled water is unnecessary since the Environmental Protection Agency has not determined that humidifiers and vaporizers disperse measurable amounts of minerals into the air.

Cleaning your Hunter humidifier filters is necessary and vital for the quality life of your humidifier. All cleaning instructions are included in the unit’s manual and may instruct you to do the following. The filter should be cleaned every 3 days if used continuously or as often as necessary. The unit should be turned off and unplugged from the electrical outlet whenever it is being assembled or disassembled. Empty the tank of excess water and use a brush or scrubber to clean the inside to clean any hard water residue. Any scale, deposits or film that has collected onto the sides of the tank should be removed and the filter should be checked for built up deposit. Be sure to wipe all surfaces dry before plugging the unit back in. The humidifier filter does not need to be completely dry before using again. The area around your humidifier should always be checked for water accumulation and dampness in order to prevent electric and fire hazards.
